THE SILVERLINING FORMATION WORKSHOP 2022

UN Youth Seychelles (UNYS) successfully hosted the Silver Lining Formation Workshop over two days at the Eden Bleu Hotel with the aim of cultivating a culture whereby youth appreciate and develop their life dimensions, well-being, and self-awareness as a means of building resilience and personal harmony in the community. The workshop showcased the importance and impacts the different Life dimensions have on individuals their lives and what action one can take to develop these dimensions. To promote holistic development and build resilience through the 8 dimensions of life/ wellbeing.

​The target group were youth aged between 12-35 years and approximately 60 youth participated in the event. Two awards were given won by Yoan Aglae for the Best Participation Award (This Award is given to the partaker who participates the most throughout the workshop and also engages in a way that makes the workshop better for other participants through question answered, the questions asked and physical activities) and Rishon Bastienne for the Silverlined Award (This Award is presented to the participant who has displayed most growth in the workshop. This can be seen through increased participation, attentiveness, sharing of views during the workshop and sometimes changed behavior)

​​The event included a series of modules; mainly the 8 dimensions of life/welling being facilitated by a line up of experienced presenters namely: Dr Pascal Chang Leng, Jean Michel Vidot, Ms Marie Antoinette, Mr Craig Francourt, Mr Jimmy Petrousse, Mr Wellington Manjangwa, Mr Lloyd Baccay and Dr Jitu. The event also included several engaging activities, sharing of life lessons and inspiring guest speakers and artist such as Juliah, Mercenary who performed ‘Rwayonm Jah Jah’ and ‘ Positiv La ater’ and Emergency Crew who animated the event and got the participants to dance to ‘Bouze’ by Elijah.

Module 3 Physical Dimension

By Mr Jean Michel Vidot a 25 year old entrepreneur. He is the founder of Kilo Game which is a programme initiated with the principle of helping people lose weight in a healthy and sustainable manner.This idea was inspired by his passion for judo, which he has been practising since age 5. He has practised judoka for 20 years now and has also sported his first black belt for 11 years. He is most passionate about fitness and sport.

​Module 4: Intellectual Dimension

By Ms Helen Marie Antoinette, known as the Master Facilitator in her field and within the world of world-class coaches/trainer/'mentors and spiritual masters. She has mastered what it is to be a Superpower Activator in the Spiritual, Emotional, Mental & Physical world, Marie-Antoinette has no limitations.

She is a powerhouse to reckon in her role as WCIW Creativity Ambassador for Seychelles & region, Connecting and expanding creative and innovative minds is a big part of her mission.

​Module 5: Occupational Dimension

By Mr Craig Francourt. Mr Francourt is a self-employed Seychellois professional, whose background lies in project management, capacity-building, public relations and communications. He set up CTF Cosultancy in 2017. CTF Consultancy is now widely known as one of Seychelles’ go-to consultancies for teambuilding days, soft skills development workforce trainings.

Craig is passionate about empowering people to realise their full potential, and is driven by the need to do so in a manner that is professional, reliable and that shows integrity.UN Youth Seychelles wishes to thank Mr Francourt for his engaging session in the Silver Lining Project and special thanks to him to provide his service pro bono.

Guest Speaker/ Artist Mercenary

The participants were excited to experience the appearance of Mercenary who shared some key wisdom often translated through his song to inspire them. He recounted his journey as an artist and entrepreneur to the audience and ended with a live performance of his song "Positiv la ater” enjoyed by the fans. UN Youth Seychelles wishes to thank Mercenary for his inspiring performance and words of encouragement to the participants.

Module 6: Financial Dimension

By Mr Wellington Manjengwa a financial services professional with a keen interest on personal development, namely, in the area of successful decision making. He is the author of the book titled ‘Take a chance and win: Guide to Risk Management for Personal Decision Making. Mr Wellington holds a Master of Science in Financial Services Management. He is also a Chartered Certified Accountant and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.
​
You may also recognise his voice from his weekly radio spot, The Well of Inspiration which offers nuggets of wisdom and purpose, which may often be forgotten in our daily lives. Mr Wellington has been a keynote speaker for the Silver Lining Project since its inception and through the “Well of Inspiration” has developed the concept of the Silver Lining Project further.

​​Module 7: Spiritual Dimension

By Lloyd Baccay a Philippine National is the Training & Mission Wellness Manager of Six Senses Zil Pasyon Resort and Dr. Jitu is a licensed acupuncturist from India. Mr Baccay has been working in the Seychelles with the Resort since its opening five years ago. A people's person who is very passionate in what he does as a Trainer especially when delivering Wellness programs. When Six Senses introduced the initiative of the Eight Dimensions within the brand, Lloyd was one amongst the Training Managers who was trained and received comprehensive tools to deliver the programs in all the eight dimensions.

Dr. Jitu is a licensed acupuncturist from India, has a Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences & has done his MD in Acupuncture from Sri Lanka. Dr. Jitu has treated patients with a variety of health concerns. Many came to him to treat pain from sports injuries, accidents, and acute or chronic medical conditions. He has helped many patients with pain, digestive issues, allergy symptoms, stress and anxiety, gynecological problems, and overall immunity enhancement.
UN Youth Seychelles wishes to thank both Mr Baccay and Dr Jitu for their relaxing and mindful session in the Silver Lining Project.

​Module 7 & 8: Emotional Dimension and Social Dimension

y Mr Jimmy Petrousse who specialise in Marriage and Family Therapy (or System therapy). The service and treatment he offer are conducted within the ethical and professional boundaries of the Health Professional Council of Seychelles (HPC). He believes that therapy is a powerful medium through which individuals can be encouraged and helped to live optimally. 'No one should suffer or struggle alone and thus facilitating individual human beings to live their most integrated' lives is one of the most fulfilling passions of mine.' UN Youth Seychelles wishes to thank both Mr Petrousse for his deep session in the Silver Lining Project.

Guest Speaker/ Artist Juliah

The participants were eager to discover our Guest Speaker and Artist Juliah Seychelles's journey as a youth and in the music industry. She shared several challenges she faced and how she overcame it and the lessons learned along the way which we believed many youth can relate to. Juliah ended her speech with a live performance of her song "Rwayonm Jah Jah" and a bonus fan-favourite "Pa sa enn". UN Youth Seychelles wishes to thank Juliah for her vibrant performance and words of encouragement to the participants.

Silver Lining Workshop with Secondary Students

On May 13th 2022, the UN Youth Seychelles hosted the Silver lining Workshop( SHARPEN YOUR SILVER LINING) at the Care House building in Victoria. The attendees consisted of three of the UNYS member, 28 Anse Royale secondary students , who were accompanied by their teachers, and the presenter for the day, Mr Wellington Manjengwa. The workshop took place from 9 am - 12:30 pm , and during that time Mr. Wellington enlightened us on the 8 dimensions of life. The 8, being the financial , occupational , social, environmental, emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual dimensions. Our presenter carried out activities which helped the students to better engage during the course of the workshop. They proved to be beneficial as it allowed the participants to interact with each other, as well as gain a great deal of information on what was being presented. At the end of the workshop certificate of participation was given to all participants. The certificates were given by Mr Raymus Laurence (President), Mr Wellington Manjengwa (Presenter) and Ms Roseline Hoareau (National Grants committee)

Workshop for orphans, semi-orphans and homes, Building Resilience

On July 25, 2022, UNYS organised a workshop to introduce the 8-life dimension to 24 youth that are orphans, semi-orphans  or dwell in homes. The workshop showcased the importance and impacts the different Life dimensions have on individuals,  their lives and what action one can take to develop these dimensions. Mr Jimmy Petrousse a professional psychotherapist  presented a tailor made workshop that put emphasis on personal harmony and finding one’s life purpose despite of humble  origins and challenging life circumstances. The rapport between presenter and participants was further cemented when Mr.  Petrousse shared his life story and experience growing up in somewhat similar conditions. As a result of a high degree of  engagement from the participants, the workshop turned into a back and forth enriching discussion on various life dimension  that this particular group go through. In addition, the workshop prioritises the health of our mind and body, to build secure and quality relationships with ourselves and others. The presentations gave detailed explanations on the power of our minds  and demonstrated the significance of a positive mindset.

Members Silver Lining Workshop

UN Youth Seychelles held the first Silver Lining Project workshop on enlightening members to 'Sharpen Your Silver Lining' yesterday April 09, 2022. The members-only workshop focused on broadening participant's knowledge on the 8 Dimensions of Life, containing quality presentations from financial services professional Mr Wellington Manjengwa who gave a striking introduction on the Financial, Occupational, Social and Environmental dimensions while psychotherapist Mr Jimmy Petrousse shared his detailed perspective on the Spiritual, Intellectual, Emotional and Physical dimensions. Both individuals created an informative and engaging front, as participants took this opportunity to impose inquiries and widen their scope of knowledge on the 8 dimensions. Finally, UNYS wishes to thank the Government Grants committee for providing their much appreciated financial support for this project and also Ms. Servina for taking her time to join us in this workshop.
