UNYS has so far implemented 8 Major Projects. Its first project was the First SDG Conference held in December 2016 and latest project being the Silver Lining Project. We have had also the attendance of the UN Youth Assembly, Human Rights Constitution Workshop, Youth Consultancy, National Day Exhibition, the Immersive Exhibition and the Global Money Week.

Our most impactful project so far has been the Global Money Week which we have spearheaded for 5 years now, with 1,481 Direct Impact and 9,793 Indirect Impact. Obviously, we have more projects in its infant stage that we have not implemented yet. Overall, for our projects we have impacted more than +2500 youth directly and more than +16,000 indirectly whereby most contributed towards SDG 4.

Project Highlights

Picture
Global Money Week (GMW) is an annual global awareness-raising campaign on the importance of ensuring that young people are financially aware from an early age, and are gradually acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial well-being and financial resilience. The event usually takes place during the last week March. UN Youth Seychelles is the Coordinator of the event in Seychelles.

The Silver Lining Project under the flagship of “promoting the holistic development of our youth” aims to educate youth on 8 identified dimensions of life to ensure a holistic approach in their decision-making process as well as discovering their full potential.

Coming up with challenges tackling the 17 SDGs in a way to spread awareness amongst local community especially the youth.

The project aims to educate the General public about the 17 SDGs. It Included awareness sessions/workshop of the 17 SDGs amongst youth targeting specific SDGs and provide the central focus for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and identify ways to accelerate progress. Leaders are also called to action to deliver the SDGs agenda in Seychelles and announce actions they are taking to advance the agenda ensuring we meet the targets.

Project Initiation

UNYS members can propose a project which is aligned with one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals. The member can discuss this with their Head of Division and draft a project proposal/ Concept Note. This will then be considered by the Board who can decide to appoint the member as the project coordinator as the bearer of the project idea or initiative the process to vote for a Project Coordinator.

Project Prioritisation

Every year the members vote for the top 3 projects to be prioritised by the organisation. These projects would receive priority when sourcing for funding, delegating task to members and on our calendar of events. These are usually projects we implement on an annual basis however, it does not prevent us from considering/ implementing other projects.
