Advocating Climate Change through sports. On Saturday 13th November, 5 volunteer from UN Youth Seychelles volunteered for a clean up hike at Perseverance, Collaborating with FUTURO Sesel. The objective of the event was to educate the kids about the importance of plastic waste in coastal areas and it’s adverse effects. The day started at Perseverance secondary school with a small briefing by Mr. Lucas Panayi, after that student got separated in 4 different teams whereby they had to tackle different sites. There were 4 main sites to clean. Items such as, cigarette buds, bottle caps, bottles, syringes, carton boxes, take away boxes debris was found. Then, everyone got back to the school and the bin liners where soon weighed. At the end, there was the introduction of Teqball- Teqball is a ball sport that is played on a curved table, combining elements of football and table tennis. The event was a success and for a reminder “Environment is no one's property to destroy; it's everyone's responsibility to protect”.

Wealth & Personal Management Workshop for semi orphans with Maylene's Hope Foundation

Picture
On Saturday August 28, 2021, UN Youth Seychelles (UNYS) collaborated with Maylene’s Hope Foundation (MHF) to host a Wealth & Personal Management Workshop for semi orphans. This workshop was hosted on site at English River Secondary School.  Throughout the workshop, participants learnt key aspects of planning and savings and were able to actively participate. The session included a presentation created by UNYS and delivered by the President, Mr. Raymus Laurence, which touched on wealth creation and management.

Notably present at the session was the Patron of MHF, First Lady Mrs. Linda Ramkalwan. We at UNYS, are grateful for the this opportunity to collaborate with the foundation for such an important topic. We firmly believe that it is essential to equip the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable them to become financially aware individuals.  We look forward to future collaborations with the foundation.
